Contract
Following the conclusion of the ceremonies he marriage contract is signed in front of two male witnesses. To seal their union the couple say “qubool hai” (I accept) three times which makes it official.
Valima or Walima
The groom’s family takes charge of organising the wedding reception, known as the Valima or Walima. This celebration is filled with lively entertainment, music, and delicious cuisine.
Traditional Food
Food at a Pakistani wedding is bursting with flavour and spice. A traditional halal meat dish is tikka kebab and a popular dessert is gajar ka halwa.
Mehndi Ki Rasam
During the mehndi ki rasam the bride is joined by her family and seated. Close relatives then adorn her hands with mehndi and indulge her with treats such as chocolates.
Rukhsati
Once the wedding festivities come to an end the Rukhsati, also known as the “departure,” takes place. The newlyweds bid farewell and promptly leave the wedding premises, accompanied by their senior family members.
